O Pioneers!!!

Neon Creeps

I feel like I shouldn’t be writing this review yet.

I’ll explain. I’ve been listening to O Pioneers!!! for a while now. They have been kicking it for around 5 years. They have release a handful of records including a split with Bomb the Music Industry. I like them but for me there is something missing. Every time I listen to them I think that it will grow on me. They have everything I look for in a punk band yet I’m still waiting for something to click.

Having said that their newest offering Neon Creeps is, for me their strongest yet. It certainly has some tracks of note, namely opener Cool Kid City but a few songs in and frontman Eric’s vocal style starts to wares thin and you can anticipate where the vocal melody is going every time.

The songs are very well written with some great guitar hooks that help to keep the listener interested. The sound is raw and honest in the best of ways and I can imagine if your into bands like Hot Water Music, Latterman and Against Me! you might well appreciate this too but for me it’s not quite there. I’ll let you know if I ever change my mind but in the mean time check them out for yourself.
