Record label: This one's for the crew

This is the first release from ex-NoComply frontwoman turned acoustic songtress Kelly Kemp, and it has been a long time coming. Kelly has been on the acoustic circuit for a while, wooing audiences all across the country with her songs of love, friendship and resilience to the drudgery of modern day life.

For as long as i have been a fan of her music, the one thing has struck me about Miss Kemp is her fantastic voice, which is shown off fantastically throughout each of the seven tracks on this EP. From the soulful ‘Aren’t we in luck’ to the lively ‘Song for solidarity’, each track pays fantastic testament to Kelly Kemp’s talents as a vocalist.

The production, handled by Dan Goudie, works perfectly, the sound is clear and powerful without feeling over polished, he also provides the backing vocals, which, despite stepping dangerously close to the realms of ‘chessiness’ work wonderfully well.

Kelly’s songs are slightly slower than some of the other artists on the acoustic circuit at the minute, but that should, by no means be a deterrant, each of these songs is wonderfully crafted, a  joy to listen to and the artwork is beautifully screenprinted. Kelly Kemp has carved a distinctive sound in the heavily saturated acoustic scene, and i can’t recommend her CD hightly enough, buy it, it’ll warm your heart.

Kely was an inspiration a few years ago at a time when her band and their music gendre were absolutelty a part of groing up. It seems that K is now able to continue this spirit and energy in her own way as an adult, and I for one are so happy that there is a comfort future for those who give so much in there younger days for what they believe in. Well done to Kelly, and good thoughts for old friends….
