Mayday Protests planned in Brighton

April 21st, 2009 · post by Fred Goodsell · Make a comment

So the G20 protests are over but now is not the time to rest on your laurels. On Monday May 4th the Brighton based Smash EDO campaign is holding a Mayday street party under the banner ‘Mayday Mayday – Smash EDO/ITT, Smash Capitalism’

The Smash EDO website proclaims

For centuries Mayday has brought people together and out onto the streets.

People danced for the coming summer and the fertility of the crops. People marched in remembrance and solidarity with their fellow workers around the world. People gathered in their cities to fight against global capital and exploitation.

The days events will start with a critical mass bike ride leaving from Brighton train station at 11am.

Later in the day people will be gathering at an as of yet undisclosed location to enjoy the festivities and confront capitalism. A pirate radio frequency is being set up so every one on the demo can tune in and enjoy some protest tunes.

A map of Brighton highlighting companies with involvement in EDO/ITT has been created and is available here
