Mapping the global zine scene

March 7th, 2009 · post by Edd · 3 Comments

Our friend Steve who helped organise the Brighton Zine Fest has set up another useful zine resource: a new Google map to track zines across the globe.

The zine map has only been live a few days but already has hundreds of zines listed with descriptions, and locations. You can visit the map here.

The plan is for it to be a resource for the zine community, and to be editable by anyone who’s interested. Steve said, “It’s supposed to be a collaboration of many zinesters; so:

  • a) We can find whether a zine community may be present in our local area
  • b) To discover new distros to get stuff from
  • c) To serve as a guide to zine related things when travelling

“I had the idea yesterday; so decided to just start making it, using my list of zines I’ve bought, Beat Motel’s contacts list and some info from zinewiki.”
