Manchester Zine Fest

August 18th, 2008 · post by Edd · 3 Comments

The Manchest zine fest returns! After a year away Manchester’s day of zines, small-press and comics has returned for some end of summer fun. The fest is happening on the 30th August from 12pm-6pm at Urbis, Manchester.

Manchester’s zine fest features a number of zines and distros including: Dans Le Matin, Mount Pleasant, Phlegm Comics, Jim Gherkin, Jim Medway & Ed Synder, Subtext, Black and White Cat Press, Café Royal, Camp Yellow, Fever Zine, Hayase!, Manifesta, Belle Vue zine, Mon 53, Cherry Bomb Comics, and Attack Magazin. Unfortunately Last Hours isn’t going to be able to make it, which we’re gutted about because 2006’s Manchester Zine Fest was a lot of fun.

There will also be workshops and an exhibition, though at the moment they haven’t been announced. The fest is right in the centre of Manchester at Urbis (Cathedral Gdns, anchester, M4 3BG), a new cultural centre. More information on Manchester Zine Fest can be found at their website:

thanks for posting about this….. the workshops/panels list at the moment :

    - Zines and Radical Politics
    - Paper manipulation / pop-ups / zine formats worshop (Dans la matin)
    - Radical History Walk followed by DIY mapmaking (Morag)
    - discussion: Changing times for Music Zines – I was going to lead this one, maybe anyone doing a music zine here would like to be part of the panel?

there is still possibly 1 or 2 spaces left for more stalls

Exhibition will feature some football zines, manchester zines past and present and lots more…

    another thing!

If you have a zine and you want it distributed from the main stall at the zinefest please email us, we can sort that out for you, whether you are going to be there or not.
