Analysis on Shut ITT Demo

December 5th, 2008 · post by anon · Make a comment

In an attempt to provide analysis of the Smash EDO – Shut ITT protest on 15th October, 2008 a map has been created to indicate the days events and their geographic position. This map is also important as it highlights the high level of police repression against the Smash EDO campaign as well as the use of anti-terror legislation against protestors.

EDO MBM Technologies Ltd are the sole UK subsidiary of huge U.S weapons manufacturer EDO Corp. From their base in Moulescoombe Brighton, EDO MBM manufacture vital parts for the Hellfire and Paveway weapons systems, laser guided missiles used extensively in Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Somalia. EDO Corp have been acquired by ITT in a multi-billion pound take over.

The Smash EDO campaign has been working tirelessly to shut down the EDO factory in Brighton using a diverse range direct action tactic including the production of a documentary entitled “On The Verge”.

Last Hours covered the protest in full and posted a short overview of the days events as well as pictures. This report can be seen here. Additional previously unreleased photographs and video from day are published below.
