Riots not diets

posted February 17th, 2009 · posted by tommy · marked as: Reviews · Zine reviews

Zine details: A5/ 24 pages/black and white

‘Riots not diets’ is the first zine from the Goldsmiths University Feminist society, and as you can probably expect, is geared around the issue of preserving feminist ideals in an increasingly neo-patriachal society. The zine has a very DIY feel, which immediately makes me feel right at home when reading it, but its appeal surpasses the pro-feminist ‘photocopier, sharpie & asymetical print-out puritans’, in that it is a highly entertaining and informative read.

Catnap zine

Zine details: A5/ black and white/ photocopied

This is quite sweet. It’s only issue two and the author sent a letter saying “we are new to the zine world, so please be gentle with us.” So I will.
It’s not much, just three folded A4 pages long. The front cover promises ‘boobs’, and I was bitterly disappointed with the lack of these. It’s [...]

Mild Peril zine

posted January 17th, 2009 · posted by jas · marked as: Reviews · Zine reviews

Zine details: A5/ black and white/ printed

Awesome! Every so often, something drops through the letterbox for review that I’m pretty chuffed about. This was one such thing. I have perhaps one other copy of Mild Peril floating around here somewhere and have always been meaning to pick more up but always been too absent minded or skint to get round to [...]

Rolling Thunder #5

posted September 24th, 2008 · posted by Fred Goodsell · marked as: Reviews · Zine reviews

Zine details: A4/ colour/ 100 pages/ £4

I first encountered CrimethInc. some years ago as I sat in a cramped living room chatting with friends. On the coffee table lay a truly battered and well thumbed copy of Days of War, Nights of Love (CrimethInc.’s flagship publication). I was a young punk kid lightly politicised by the threat of war in Iraq [...]

Black Lesbian President #1-4

posted April 19th, 2008 · posted by Edd · marked as: Reviews · Zine reviews

Zine details: A5/ 32 pages/ black and white/ £1.50

This is a review of the first three issues of Black Lesbian President.

Sometimes I fuck up so badly that it moves from the event being embarrassing to the point where I contemplate hiding in a cave and never speaking to anyone ever again. Failing, yet again, to review Black Lesbian President in the new issue [...]

325 #4

posted January 3rd, 2008 · posted by anon · marked as: Reviews · Zine reviews

Zine details: A4/ b&w/ photocopied/ 40 pages

This anti-prison, insurrectionary, autonomist magazine has been produced irregularly over the past few years with all four issues offering an attitude and a style sadly lacking in many other publications. The latest edition opens with a very inspiring six pages of international resistance news from over the last year giving a real feeling of the [...]
