Last Hours favourites ‘Apologies, i have none’ have announced the first details of their upcoming new EP ‘two sticks and six strings’. It is to feature four new songs and an electric version of ‘Bent Strings’, which appeared on their 2007 debut ‘Done’.

Riots not diets

‘Riots not diets’ is the first zine from the Goldsmiths University Feminist society, and as you can probably expect, is geared around the issue of preserving feminist ideals in an increasingly neo-patriachal society. The zine has a very DIY feel, which immediately makes me feel right at home when reading it, but its appeal surpasses the pro-feminist ‘photocopier, sharpie & asymetical print-out puritans’, in that it is a highly entertaining and informative read.

Goldsmiths student occupation

Students of Goldsmiths University have, as of this afternoon, occupied a campus building. At noon today students stormed Deptford town hall, which is known amongst students as the administration hub of the college.

Glasgow university occupied

Students of Glasgow University have become the latest to join the wave of activism currently sweeping campuses across the nation. In occupying a floor of a university building they are acting in solidarity with the people of Gaza and in direct condemnation of the Israeli state and the BBC for refusal to show the DEC appeal.

This EP embodies everything I love about split releases, two bands playing exciting and enjoyable songs, without overlapping musically greatly or clashing at all.

Protest stops IDF colonel giving talk

Yesterday a publicity meeting in London for an IDF colonel, Geva Rapp, was disrupted by over 100 protestors. The meeting had been called so the colonel could advertise his pro-war book and talk about the recent Israeli invasion of Gaza. The following is a first person account of what happened at the demonstration on Euston Road.
