These are some of the early photos from the Bristol Co-Mutiny demonstrations in Bristol today. As part of a week long series of events today saw a ‘repossess the banks‘ demonstration. At least five people have so far been arrested, and a number of banks received a redecoration. A full report will follow later today. [...]

Vegan Lunchbox Lentil Dal

September 17th, 2009 · posted by xhannahx · marked as: DIY Guides · Food

I don’t know about you but I’m always getting bored of my packed lunch. I’ve tried the usual sandwich fillings of peanut butter, marmite, salad, 8 different types of humus and of course the classic pasta and sauce but I thought it was about time for some new recipes. I’m going to try and do [...]

No Borders camp at Lesvos

September 17th, 2009 · posted by anon · marked as: Articles · resistance

At the end of August a No Borders camp was held on the Greek island of Lesvos. This personal account from the event offers an insight into the racist immigration policies that the camp was called against, and the failure of the camp to achieve any meaningful improvement for those migrants trapped on the island.

The weight of expectation can hardly be greater on a new band founded by one of the most successful and controversial godfathers of US punk.

Thanks to everyone who came and talked to us at the Bristol Anarchist Bookfair. It was a great day by all accounts.
Events like this remind me of why we do what we do. The venues ideal location in the middle of Bristol city centre meant the fair attracted people in off the street, interested in [...]

Burglar stereotypes

September 12th, 2009 · posted by Edd · marked as: Blogs · Hey Monkey Riot

The landlord just had some builders painting the communal hallway in my building. It looks cool. But they took down the old ‘please-remember-to-double-lock-the-front-door-else-we’ll-get-robbed’ sign on the front door. So I had to do a new one. I thought I’d go for the scare tactics to hopefully stop my bike getting nicked again!

Non Fiction

This is a thing of beauty. A simple collection of conversations with four different sets of people, but created with such love and attention that the end result is something worth treasuring.

Ghostlimb/ Fischer

September 11th, 2009 · posted by Mikey · marked as: CD reviews · Reviews

The split 10 inch is an interesting format, not nearly as common as the split 12 inch LP and seven inch, but when used to document the right bands it can be better than either of those formats – not dragging or outstaying it’s welcome, but giving you enough music to really sink your teeth into. It’s especially enjoyable when both bands are as good as they are on this split.

Only Thieves

This is a fun, if unessential EP. Each of the songs is interesting in it’s own way, the lyrics are a tad repetitive, but the pop hooks are razor sharp.
