For £6.50 tonight was going to be a blinder from the outset. The price included four bands, three of whom I already thought were wicked, including living legend one-man-ska-band Chris Murray.

Nate Powell

In March 2009 it was announced that Nate Powell had been nominated for the LA Times book prize, for his book Swallow me whole. It is the first time a comic has been nominated for the prize since Maus in 1992.

This was my first outing to the ‘HMV’ Forum, and I’m sad to report that not much has changed: the bar is still overpriced, the toilets scuzzy, and the sound awful. However this wasn’t going to put a dampener on my night.

Apologies, i have none new EP release

Last Hours favourites ‘Apologies, i have none’ have announced the first details of their upcoming new EP ‘two sticks and six strings’. It is to feature four new songs and an electric version of ‘Bent Strings’, which appeared on their 2007 debut ‘Done’.

The Arteries

During 2008 The Arteries put out three 10” records; ‘Blood’, ‘Sweat’ and ‘Beers’. Thankfully for everyone who missed out on buying the 10”s they’ve been put together for a full length release on Household Name Records.
