The weekend of the 28th November saw a national, two days of action against E.on and new coal. E.on are responsible for to plans to build a new coal fired power station at Kingsnorth in Kent.

Rancid

It’s the last of three nights in a row that London’s Astoria has played host to the Californian punk legends. There’s an air of anticipation, celebration and a distinct feeling of no one wanting it to be over, as the crowd sing, dance and punch the air with almost constant fervour throughout the set.

Creating Common Ground

In May 2007, anarchists and other anti-capitalists based in Reading opened the squatted Common Ground Community Garden to the public for the first time, receiving support from all sides of their community, breaking an injunction & defying an eviction side by side with other local people. No Use For A Name

I’ll unashamedly admit that No Use were one of my favourite bands as a teenager. To this day, I’d stand by some of their stuff. Leche Con Carne and Making Friends are some of the catchiest, best written, Fat Wreck-esque punk out there.

Morris Beckman and The 43 Group

Morris Beckman was one of the founders of the English anti-fascist group the 43 Group. The 43 Group was founded by Jewish ex-servicemen after the Second World War who, when they came back from the war, encountered British fascist organisations including Jeffrey Hamm’s “British League of Ex-Servicemen” and Oswald Mosley’s “British Union of Fascists”.

Comica 2008 & Comiket small press event

Comica, London’s annual international comics festival, is happening again from the 14th – 26th November. The event, organised by Paul Gravett, has always bought together some of the finest talent both from the underground and independent comic scenes, but also more mainstream creators too.
